My poor van!:(

Ok, so I was the last one to leave the park today from our home schooling meeting.  I pulled out of my parking space and watched as a teenage girl pulled quickly out of her space up near the entrance of the park and sped away.  I turned my attention to a second car that was parked down two spaces from her, but not moving.  As I got closer to it the driver backed out of his spot really fast with NO warning and slammed into the front of my new van.  (It is only three car payments old…sigh).  I saw him coming at us in slow motion and knew there was nothing I could do.  If I pulled to the left he would have hit my passenger side and if I pulled to the right he would have hit the van head on (possibly deploying the air bags) and I had no time to put it in reverse and back up.  We both got out and he was fighting back tears as he apologized and tried to process what had just happened.  He proceeded to explain that he was there to ‘fight’ some other teenage boy over some teenage girl  (I am assuming the first girl that tore out of the parking lot).  He also said that he saw me in his mirror and hit the gas instaed of the brake and that he wasn’t sure why he even did that.  After that I saw his lips moving but the sounds coming out mattered very little to me.  It took forever for the police to arrive, even though they are right across the street.  The officer told me that this would not be treated as an actual accident because it was not a highway accident and that it was up to the boy to contact the insurance agent and they should be in touch with me soon…

This is why they should not give driver’s licenses to teenage people…

I hate waiting!  I am probably the world’s most impatient person!  I really hate waiting…I don’t do it well!  Never really have!  I ordered something three weeks ago from a company that I won’t mention because even muttering their name makes me grouchy!!   I paid to have it expressed shipped to me!  Express shipping means 5-7 days by their own definition.  Here I sit, almost three whole weeks later and nothing!  I finally contacted the company to inquire about my package’s where abouts and they told me it was out of stock when I ordered and that it would be here this week.   Today is Friday and no sign of it yet!  The thing that blows my mind is that if I were customer service for a company and I was presented with this situation, I would be falling all over myself to fix the problem and try to make amends with the customer!  This company offers a superior product and therefore seems to care very little about the customer service/product delivery portion of the transactions.  Ugh!  My  only choices at this point are to cancel my order (but then I do not get it!)  or to wait until they send it to me!  Guess I will be waiting!  I hate waiting!

The saddest thing happened today.  We had a Valentine’s Party at the skating rink and there was a new little child there.  I skated with her and talked to her several times throughout the party.  I asked her who and where her mother was and she told me that she dropped her off there!!  I asked the little girl how old she was and was astonished to find out that she was only 6!!!  Her mother brought her and dropped her without letting anyone know and without even meeting any of us!!  Then to make it worse at the end of the party her mother was not there to pick her up.  She left her 6 year old child there unattended with a group of total strangers and was expecting her to call when the party was over.  The child had no phone with her!!  It broke my heart.  I sincerely do not understand that in a world where so many bad things happen on a daily basis that a mother would…could do that to her own child?!  We were a group of moms (and dads) who happen to be safe, but what if we didn’t question this and that little girl was left standing outside that rink by herself after everyone was gone?  Anything could have happened to her!!!  People are so unbelievable sometimes!! I don’t even leave my 7 year old alone at a birthday party with MY friends!! Maybe I am over protective, but these are my children!!  The most amazing and wonderful thing I have ever done and I do not wish to be careless with that!  Tonight when I turn out the lights and shut down the house I will do it knowing that my children are all well cared for and safe in ther beds.

I just have to ask…is it a pre-requisite that you be an absolute ogre to get a job at the DMV?!  I mean is there a slot on the job application that says : Please list any prior experience that you have being mean and nasty…?!  I had to make a trip there today : (.  It was most unpleasant!  I am a firm believer of the pay it forward theory!  This is that  you take a simple minute to smile at your cashier, or hold the door for someone, or  ask how someone is and actually listen to the answer!  It only takes a minute to be nice and maybe it will brighten someone’s day and maybe it won’t, but what do you have to lose?!  Your job sucks…you hate your life…I am sorry! It is NOT my fault you work at the DMV…if you are that unhappy… go get another job!  Do NOT inflict your nastiness and disatisfied frowny face on my day though! But guess what…even after waiting in your long lines (three times!), filling out all your paper work and dealing with three separate grouchy employees (non of which made any effort to crack the slightest smile) you still didn’t manage to ruin MY day! So ha!  Big grin!  : )
